National Poetry Month- Family Portraits

National Poetry Month-Day 2: Write a poem that takes the form of a family portrait.

family tree.

back bone splintered by war-torn countries thousands of miles away.
neck weighted from protecting and redirecting unspoken terrors.
legs tired by running away from self-inflicted non-memories.
arms fatigued with waving good-bye to birth rights and hello to strangers.
heart broken from trying to maintain the family’s ghost.
